The only man I can trust? Gary Johnson

America is dominated by a two-party system that is seen nowhere else in the world, which George Washington warned against in his farewell address. But third parties are on the rise, especially the Libertarian party. Their candidate, Gary Johnson, has at some points been up to six percent in the polls. Johnson, as a Republican, was the two-term governor of New Mexico, which is a two to one Democratic state. Johnson runs on the platform of private sector jobs, the government staying out of the economy, staying out of foreign affairs, and staying out of healthcare. Johnson is a pro-choice candidate, believes marijuana should be legalized, and marriage equality. And although I do not personally agree with some of his social policies, his real policy is that the government should not be in charge of social issues, which I completely support. As Governor of New Mexico, Johnson vetoed 750 bills that came through his office, and only 2 were overturned. I want a man who can stand firm in his beliefs and use his power wisely, but not take advantage of it.  Johnson is a sincere man that I really feel like I can trust.
The sad truth is that we are a long, long way away from having a third party president. People are afraid that if they choose something other then Democrats or Republicans, that their vote will not count. The only reason that is true, is because too many people believe that their vote will not matter. Realistically, your vote does not matter at all because of the electoral college. Democracy in action, right? I don’t think so… Based on the above facts I, although I am not old enough to vote, completely support Governor Gary Johnson, for the President of the United States of America in 2012.

Thoughts on Obama

Now Barack Obama, the incumbent president, has one huge plan that he put into an eighteen page pamphlet. Without even seeing the pamphlet I have one huge issue with it. How do we know that anything in there is actually going to happen? Obama had a big huge plan just four years ago, and look at where we are now. Gas prices have doubled, student interest loan rates have doubled, and the national debt is at sixteen trillion dollars! The economy has gone nowhere good, and the new healthcare plan is only giving the poor one more reason that they do not really need a job. Illegal immigration is still on the rise, and the illegal immigrants are taking advantage of our tax dollars. Barack Obama another great example of a person whom I simply cannot trust in the oval office.

Thoughts on Romney

Mitt Romney, he wants to cut taxes for everyone, but decrease the deductions to even it out. So if it all evens out, then what is the point? He wants to increase the military budget, continue use of unmanned drones, and continue to pick sides in countries that do not want us there. And so does Obama, so the voters do not really get a say in the military direction. Romney is a pro-life candidate, but has not always been, so what is to say he does not change his mind again? Romney has always been a supporter of the traditional values of marriage. He believes that the way to fix the economy “champion small business”, but no one really knows what that means. Romney says he has all of these great plans, but has made absolutely no effort to explain them in the slightest. At the end of the day, I’m just not sure that I can trust Mitt Romney.

Elections

It seems to have boiled down to that. We have Mr. Flip Flop Romney and Mr. I did not do anything during my first term except kill Obama Bin Laden. Oops I mean Osama. Mitt Romney is running on a platform that changes every few weeks, it seems like he might have short term memory loss or something. On the other hand we have Barak Obama, who has done nothing beneficial in his four years as president. He says he has a big plan, but did he not say that just four years ago? It comes down a guy who really is not worthy of the presidency and a guy who has not fulfilled any of his promises. It is a choice between evil one and evil two, who will not be quite as bad as the other one, the lesser of two evils.
